WHO AM I?
Hi, I’m Aidan Higgs, a passionate pianist, teacher, and lifelong student of music. My journey with the piano has been shaped by incredible experiences, devoted mentors, and a relentless pursuit of understanding the connection between the body and artistry. My love for music truly blossomed during my time at Dillard Center for the Arts, a high school renowned for its emphasis on jazz performance. While jazz surrounded me, I gravitated toward classical piano. My years at Dillard were instrumental in developing my foundation and nurturing my dream of becoming a multifaceted artist.
During high school, my studies took on a deeper focus when I began working with Mrs. Brodsky, an innovative technique specialist who transformed not only my playing but my understanding of the piano. Her expertise in injury-free playing introduced me to the importance of healthy, efficient movement at the keyboard—a revelation that has fueled my teaching philosophy and personal growth. Under her guidance, I developed a profound respect for the mechanics of the human body and how they harmonize with musical expression.
Another transformative chapter of my life unfolded when I studied abroad in Italy to study with world renowned pianist Francesco Libetta. This experience, alongside my teacher’s mentorship, was unforgettable. Walking the streets of San Marino, immersed in centuries of musical history, and refining my craft under Libetta’s guidance deepened my artistic perspective. The time I spent there wasn’t just about the piano; it was about embracing the cultural and emotional depth that fuels musical expression.
Today, I channel these rich experiences into my teaching and personal artistry. Whether guiding students through their first scales or delving into the complexities of a Chopin etude, I approach each lesson with the same passion and curiosity that have defined my own journey. My goal is not only to teach piano but to inspire my students to connect with music on a deeper level, cultivating their unique voices and understanding of the art.
Beyond teaching, I’m also committed to my growth as an artist. I aim to explore new avenues, from composing to developing soulful performances that resonate with diverse audiences. Through it all, my dedication to the art of music and the well-being of my students remains at the heart of everything I do.
